Fun Makeovers

I have been painting a lot lately. I just get antsy and want a project to do. However, now I am exhausted because between cleaning out and redecorating my mom's house, my own painting projects, and keeping up with my home, I am no longer antsy.

Here are a few of the things I have made over recently. By the way, I acquire each piece for free...

I dont know if you are a facebook follower or not, but I mentioned sending my hubs out one night to pick up an item off the side of the road. Well he got it, and I finally got around to fixin her up. I am planning on hanging it on the wall by my craft table to hold lots of my craft nik naks that I use frequently. I needed easier access to them, and this gives me just that!

Like I said, I have been cleaning out my mom's house. With that came garage sales for a couple weeks to get rid of all the clutter. I actually found this jewelry box in the garage, and it was mine when I was younger. I thought, this could totally be cutesy again with a little paint. I had one idea, but then changed, so now I need a new pattern for the doors, but for now, this is how it turned out.

and finally, another item that was sitting in my mom's garage. We must have had 15 people come thru the garage sale and ask it if was for sale, but no, it was not! this girl had a plan for it! and it panned out nicely i think. I needed a desk with drawers bc our current desk did not have any and stuff just piled up on the top of it. Annoying to me, who likes things to have a place. Now, no more clutter! I painted it to look like some bookshelves we have from Pier 1. I think they look enough alike to make ya think they are a set possibly...

Bowling Night

I have to admit, I really enjoy bowling. I dont do it that often, which is maybe why I still enjoy it, but I think its a fun family night activity.

We all loaded up last night and headed out to Oops Alley and got us a lane and had a hysterically good time! I won...by the way...I guess beating my niece and nephew wasnt that impressive, but I did beat my dad and my husband...just sayin'

Apparently McDonalds ice cream does not agree with Kennedy. She EXPLODED on the way home. I heard it, and smelt it, but I had no idea how bad it really was until we got home. Her clothes and car seat were COVERED. It was pretty much the nastiest poo ever. After a car seat disassembly, and complete hosedown and machine wash of the cover...it is now good as new, and no longer stinky. 

It's fun being a mommy...

Blue Angels

This week has been so great with my brother and his fam in town. We have had a jam packed week of good times and fun stuff to do. Yesterday we went to the beach and watched the Blue Angels fly. It was a long day, considering I had a 21 month old out at the hot sandy beach for over 5 hours...but we made it, with only one small meltdown. She swam, played in the sand, played in the showers, ate snacks, watched the airplanes, and made it out of there just in time to avoid traffic and get home for a nice nap.

The last time I went to watch the Blue Angels, I was about 7 months pregnant, so Kennedy has heard them before, but this time she got to see them! I was really nervous about the noise level of the airplanes. Kennedy LOVES airplanes, and us living so close to the Naval Air Station is cool bc they are flying over all day long and she waves and blows kisses. This time they were going to be a little closer, and definitely louder. I brought earplugs and an ipod. I was almost positive that she wouldnt go for the earplugs, and would probably feel weird wearing them, which she did. Good thing I brought the ipod, bc she kept that in her ears for a while, and played with the buttons.  It distracted her just enough to not care too much about the loud planes.

Nanny held them in good so the planes wouldnt scare her. I didnt want a reenactment of Katie Leonard when we were little when she scrame her head off the entire time...Kennedy did much better...thank heavens

Surf City

My brother and his family are in town for the week and so Kennedy has been having a blast hanging out with her Texas cousins. Today we went to a little water park here in town and it was SO very fun, for the kids and me! I have been wanting to go and my mom said that while Tanner and Taylor were in town she was thinking of taking them, so I have put it off so we could all go together. We really did have such a blast and Im glad we got to do it with them.

Now, I need to explain to you what happened while we were there...my little baby girl, who needs her mommy so very much, and cried two days ago when I dropped her off at the nursery so I could work out...was being a big girl...too big...she didnt even need me. There was a big blue slide, and I took her up on it the first time, and she sat on my lap as we went down. The second time she sat next to me and we went down holding hands. When we got to the bottom, she looked around and started walking towards the stairs that lead up to the slide. I thought, "is she really going to figure out where it is, and actually go down? without ME? no, surely she will want me =)."

and this is when I began to actually cry...I couldnt believe I was crying. I just didnt know how big she was and I think I was in a little bit of a shock.

this was not my laziest ride around the lazy river, considering I had to keep her above water the whole ride around. It was interesting with little squirmy.

4th

Im feeling super lazy these days, so pardon my lack of posting, and writing...but who cares about the writing anyways???

We went to New Orleans for the weekend of Fourth of July, and stayed with our friends Jo and Justin. We had a really fun time and I was glad to have Justin there with me this time, bc he is fun to explore with.

Here is a recap of our trip, in pictures...

Saturday we went to the mall and ate a yummy place called Izzo's, which is a lot like Moe's but I think I enjoyed my burrito at Izzo's more =) Later that day we took the kids to the park. Brant swang in the swing all by himself for the first time and LOVED it!

That night, Jo made mexican and after the babies went to bed she and I finally had our date at Borders. It was nice to sit and look at books with a good girlfriend...I never get to do that anymore.

Sunday, we went for a late breakfast at this fun little place called Surrey's. I had the banana foster's french toast (which writing about it right now is REALLY making me want it). It was just the Manny's bc Brant was not digging the idea of being there so they headed home.

When we got home we grabbed some cash and went and waited for a street car to come pick us up so we could experience the public transportation that is the New Orleans Street Car...it was pretty fun, Kennedy thought it was cool. We rode it to Audubon Park and then let her play on the playground and then walked around to quack at the ducks. It was raining a good portion of the time, but it wasnt until the end of our time there that it started pouring and we then had to run through mud puddles to get back on the street car to go home. We stepped on VERY muddy. The people were so nice though and were giving me napkins to wipe off with, but it was all the way up my legs and on my back and even in my hair. There was no helping Justin or I. Kennedy was the only one without mud on her. It was fun though. I loved running through the rain and getting all muddy with my loves. I would so do it again.

That night we had some hamburgers and then went to a pool at some friends of Justin and Jo's place. We swam for a while and then went and watched the fireworks from the top of the parking garage. I was glad we were far enough away, bc I dont think Kennedy would have really enjoyed being so close.

Monday we woke up and headed to the French Quarter. First stop, Cafe Du Monde! Oh man, beignets are so good.

Then we walked around the quarter until we were hungry for lunch. We ate a place called Johnny's which has great poboy's and other stuff too. Justin and I split half a muffaletta...who could eat a whole?? by themself??
